Questions people ask.
Who can get a site? +
Any current Charles Sturt staff member or student. We check your membership when you sign in and once a day after that.
Does it cost anything? +
No — it's a free service for current CSU staff and students.
What can I build? +
Anything for your teaching, learning, research or creative work — a portfolio, a research site, a class project, a blog. See the Acceptable Use Policy for the full rules.
Can I use my own domain instead of csu.domains? +
Yes — request it from your dashboard. You'll verify you control the domain with a DNS TXT record, then an admin reviews the request before it's connected.
Can I get SSH / command-line access? +
Request it from your dashboard. An admin reviews and approves requests, then SFTP/SSH details appear on your Connection Details panel.
What happens to my site if I graduate or leave CSU? +
Your site stays live for a grace period after your membership lapses, with an email warning first. After that it's suspended, then eventually removed — with a backup taken and verified before deletion. You can download a full copy of your data at any point from your dashboard.
Can more than one person manage a site? +
Yes — the owner can add co-managers, and ownership itself can be transferred by an admin if needed (for example, when a project changes hands).
